Julien Miguel & Brian Wolf

Colorado-based pole dancer Julien Miguel contacted us in fall 2015 for a semi-private shoot with a friend, local poler Brian Wolf. We had photographed both of these brilliant dancers previously, at competitions, but never had the chance to work with them in the studio, so it was a treat for all of us to be able to design a studio shoot together at The Choreography House in Los Angeles.

Valentine's Day Flash Shoot

Our second "Flash Shoot" yesterday at The Vertitude went swimmingly! What fun.

We came up with the idea for Flash Shoots late last year, as a way to serve dancers who couldn't afford our standard half hour/hourlong packages, new polers who didn't think they had the stamina for a full appointment, and performers or instructors that need photos right away. Fortunately there are two of us in Alloy, so we can both shoot and edit simultaneously - making something like a Flash Shoot possible. One of us shoots you and the other immediately edits the images onsite, so you can leave with your photos in hand.

Making The Escape

One year ago, in November 2013, I sat down at my laptop to edit another newspaper photography assignment - probably my third or fourth assignment of the day. Finished photos due by the next morning. But I'm a procrastinator at heart, and I can never get to work before letting my mind settle down a bit. So before I dove in to editing the school fairs, city council meetings, pet of the week and Christmas tree lighting photos, I pulled up a little blog I had been following, by Sarah of Weird Sisters Circus.
